June 13, 2011 By SLee Leave a Comment

L.A. Noire: Unofficial Case GuidesEncouraged by the amount of traffic my walkthroughs for L.A. Noire have been getting, I compiled, re-edited, and published my guides as an eBook, now available for $0.99 on the Amazon Kindle. The cover image (that I designed myself) is visible on the left there, and I have named the book L.A. Noire: Unofficial Case Guides.

The book is currently available exclusively from Amazon, but I am investigating other avenues to increase distribution. Don’t worry; I will keep you dedicated readers updated on my progress.

Please take the time to support us as you are cracking cases and racking up stars.

L.A. Noire Review

[Article first published as Xbox 360 Review: L.A. Noire on Blogcritics.]

Taking their cues from the film noir cinema style, Rockstar Games (creators of the hit Grand Theft Auto franchise) and Australian developers Team Bondi have partnered to create a captivating story in
L.A. Noire
. In typical Rockstar fashion, L.A. Noire has already been a huge success, selling just under 1.5 million copies for Xbox 360 alone in the first three weeks, and for good reason. [Read more…]

[Article first published as Thoughts on the Duke Nukem Forever Demo on Blogcritics.]

After more than a decade of promising and procrastination, Duke Nukem Forever, sequel to fan favorite Duke Nukem 3D, is finally nearing release. Fondly remembering the hours I spent playing Duke Nukem 3D as a youth, I eagerly pre-ordered DNF from Amazon, earning me a membership with Duke’s First Access Club and an Xbox Marketplace code for the demo. L.A. Noire Star Map Achievement

Star Map

An L.A. Noire Sightseeing Map is just what you need to earn your 100% completion (for 80 gamer points) and to get the L.A. Noire Star Map Achievement (for 15 gamer points). The entire city map is too wide to fit nicely into one page, so I have divided it into three parts (plus one for Chinatown). [Read more…]

PSN Welcome Back Program Now Live

June 5, 2011 By SLee Leave a Comment

With the PlayStation Network back on track after nearly a month of being down after being hacked, Sony is now making good on their promise of the PlayStation Network Welcome Back Program. An attempt to apologize for the down time, the program includes 2 free game downloads for PS3 (your choice of Dead Nation, inFAMOUS, Little Big Planet, Super Stardust HD, or Wipeout HD + Fury), 2 free game downloads for PSP (your choice of Little Big Planet (PSP), ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force, or Killzone Liberation), and some free usage of the PlayStation Plus service (30 days for those not already signed up or 60 free days for those who were already subscribing at the time of the hack).

The PlayStation Network Welcome Back Program will be active through July 3, giving you enough time to decide which of the freebies you want. I don’t have a PSP, but opted for inFAMOUS and Wipeout HD + Fury for PS3. Let us know which games you are getting.
